What Are Filing Credits?

The Pre-Pay payment method allows you to pre-purchase your filings using “filing credits”. When you pre-pay for your filings, you can purchase a selected number of filing credits which are then used when one of your LIVE filings is accepted by EDGAR.

Pre-purchasing filing credits can be done on GoFiler Online using a valid credit card. You may also be billed on net-15 payment terms depending on your account’s standing. You will receive a discount for purchasing filing credits in bulk; the more credits you purchase at a time, the more you can save!

How filing credits work:


  1. Set your Payment Method to Pre-Pay.

  2. Choose your payment options and the number of filing credits you would like to purchase. You may need a valid credit card to proceed.

  3. Create your EDGAR submission as normal.

  4. Use the File Live function when you are ready to submit your Live filing. If your account has one or more filing credits, one filing credit will be temporarily placed on hold until EDGAR either accepts or suspends your filing.

  5. If your filing is accepted, the filing credits necessary for that type of filing will be consumed. If your filing is suspended, the filing credit that was placed on hold will be returned to your account so you can try to file again.

Helpful Hints:

  • You will be alerted when your filing credits are low. If you attempt to File Live with no filing credits available, you will be unable to transmit your filing to EDGAR.
