There are a number of different software launchers available from the portal. While the operation of each of the launchers is identical, the EDGAR forms available for filing from each software application varies. This is to help filers choose software that files only the forms they need. Most filers only handle a handful of the forms that can be filed to EDGAR. By splitting the different families of forms into different software, you can launch the software you need for the forms you need without cluttering your workspace with tools for forms you won't be filing.
When you first register for an account, you have the option of choosing which EDGAR forms you file. This step of the registration process sets up which software launchers are automatically added to your Dashboard when you first log in. You can add or remove software launchers from your Dashboard at any time. Most software launchers are named with the family of forms they file in mind. The list in this article will also help you identify which software to use to file which EDGAR submission types. Amendment forms and other variant forms are available in the same software as the standard form to which they apply.
